The Hotel Pepper Tree is owned and operated by two Australian families. Inspired by the apartment-style lodging that’s typical on Australia’s eastern seaboard, John and Mark moved to California to develop a similar style of hotel.
In 1998 they opened their first extended-stay property in San Diego. They chose this Anaheim location to appeal to visitors with a sense of style on a budget. Large Kitchen Studios, an on-site restaurant and a great supermarket right across the street made this location an easy choice.
An architect by trade, John handles all of Hotel Pepper Tree’s building details, colors, landscaping, furnishings and maintenance. Mark uses a background in business management and customer service to manage the hotel’s operations and marketing. Their wives are also involved in the hotel – but the boys like to think they do all the "Hard Yacka"!
John and Mark made several trips to Guadalajara to have rustic wooden furniture, paintings and ironwork hand-made especially for Hotel Pepper Tree. They are both involved with the day-to-day operations, so don’t be surprised if you find the odd jar of Vegemite hanging around or hear a few g'days or howyagoins. You can contact Mark at firstname.lastname@example.org and John at email@example.com.
